The commission consists of designing 20 high-end dwellings located on an elongated plot with a steep slope on the outskirts of the municipality of Calvià, in the Balearic Islands.
The opportunities offered by the terrain’s gradient, together with the open views across the site, form the conceptual foundations of the project. Likewise, respect for the existing natural environment and integration into the landscape are key principles guiding the development of the programme.
Twenty “mirador” volumes are proposed, set on a stone plinth that is gradually fractured in order to preserve the existing vegetation and adapt to the natural topography.
Access to the homes is located at the highest point of the site, where the private parking area and main entrance are situated. The upper floor contains the day areas, along with the outdoor space comprising a terrace and private swimming pool. This level is split into two sub-levels, a strategy that ensures open views towards the exterior and the sea from all living spaces. The lower floor accommodates the night area, with three double bedrooms and two bathrooms. This level is conceived as a space of maximum calm and privacy, detached from the more social and leisure-oriented areas of the home.
