Calvià Mallorca

We are dealing with an existing building in an advanced state of deterioration, which required a deep intervention preserving only its structural frame. From this starting point, a full spatial reconfiguration is proposed in order to adapt the building to the new functional programme requested by the client, focused on the creation of apartments.

The architectural proposal is based on the recovery of the building’s original essence, enhancing its strong volumetric presence and stylistic simplicity. In response to the degradation caused by time, the intervention seeks to restore its formal identity through a restrained and coherent architectural language, where functionality becomes the guiding principle of the project.

The interior design is conceived as an extension of the Mediterranean character of both the exterior and the surrounding context. To achieve this, a material palette and set of construction elements evocative of this atmosphere are introduced: light-toned timber, slender iron balustrades, and traditional solar protection systems such as mallorquinas, all contributing to warm, bright, and permeable spaces.

The relationship between interior and exterior is reinforced through the use of light, shadow, and texture—key elements of Mediterranean architecture. In this way, the project not only responds to the functional requirements of the programme, but also recovers and reinterprets the identity of the building, integrating it naturally into its context.
